This was a very fun painting for me. It made me try something very different from my usual style and pushed me out of my comfort zone. After priming the paper with white paint, I used exclusively black India ink. The steam was tedious but lots of fun.
This is my second value painting. I used a couple grey tones and used a very diluted grey paint for the dancer's gossamer dress.
This is my realistic value painting. I'm not especially good at shading and felt fairly uninspired and I think it shows in this painting. I used various shades of pale grey and off white to create the melted wax effect and using these similar shades of the same color was a big challenge for me.
